Class of 1969, Thornwell School
The protagonist in Ariel’s Island grew up at a fictional orphanage named Thornwood. I grew up in the very real Thornwell Orphanage, and that experience has had a profound effect on my life. Several years ago the school at Thornwell had to close for financial reasons, but now a group of dedicated people have reopened it as a charter school. But Thornwell School needs our help to meet the promise of a great education for the children at Thornwell and the surrounding area.
